Microsoft provides their Web Publishing Wizard
(WPW) on all Windows-compatible FrontPage CD’s. This Wizard
provides an upload-only interface for any FTP server. However, WPW
will not allow you to view the contents of your server directories,
nor delete files already on the server. We would encourage you to
install and use a standard FTP client. FrontPage generates standard
html files, along with some Microsoft-specific code embedded in
the page, so any FTP client
will work.
If you have installed the FrontPage Extensions, then you should
not try to FTP files up to the server. If you wish to upload files
via FTP, please remember to uninstall the
extensions before uploading.
No Extensions are required to upload your web site.
Here is how it can be done. In the examples below, you would change
the words "yourdomain.com" to your actual domain name.

Uploading

- Have your designed web open and click
on File/Publish FrontPage Web.
- Publish FrontPage web to: ftp://yourdomain.com/www/
- Click OK.
- You will need these settings:
- FTP Server Name: yourdomain.com
or your IP address
- Directory Path: www
- Enter your username and password
- Click Finish.
FrontPage should now begin to upload your
web to the Internet. Once it is finished, the upload box will disappear.
This will take a little while depending on the size of your web,
so be patient.

Uploading
files using FTP : FrontPage 2000 |
- Have your designed web open and click
on File/Publish Web.
- Specify the location to publish your
web to: ftp://yourdomain.com/www/ (where yourdomain.com is your
actual domain name or IP address)
- Click publish.
- Enter your username and password.
FrontPage should now begin to upload your web to the Internet.
Once it is finished, it will give you the message, "web site
published successfully!".
- Click Done.
